Gianmario Verona is since July 2022 President of Fondazione Human Technopole the new Italian life sciences research institute located in the heart of MIND - Milan INnovation District.
Verona also served as Rector of Bocconi University from 2016 to 2022. He was the youngest rector by appointment in the history of the university and the first to be renewed for three two-year terms. Before becoming rector, he successfully held several positions at Bocconi supporting its path of increasing internationalization. A graduate of Bocconi, he first earned a Bocconi Doctorate and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Visiting Professor at Dartmouth College's Tuck School of Business.
An expert in the economics of technology and innovation, through his studies he has contributed to the understanding of barriers to organizational change and the identification of mechanisms that help companies adopt high-potential innovations and technologies. He is the author of more than eighty articles and eight books, has published in the most prestigious international management journals, and was editor of Strategic Organization (2014-2016).
He currently sits on the Boards of the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), the Romeo and Enrica Invernizzi Foundation, and the Silvio Tronchetti Provera Foundation. He was an independent director for Manuli Rubber Industries, a leading Italian multinational company in rubber components and systems.
He is a columnist for Corriere della Sera, for which he covers issues related to human capital, innovation and digital transformation. Over the years, he has also collaborated in terms of consulting, training and applied research with many Fortune 500 companies and innovative start-ups and multinationals.
